Loveship, Hateship, Kristen Wiigship

Nice one

Uptown Moxie

Last week I had the great pleasure of seeing one of my most looked-up-to individuals at a movie screening/talk at the 92nd Street Y. As a part of the Reel Pieces series, my friend and I were able to preview the drama Loveship, Hateship (based off of Alice Munro’s short story “Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage”) and sit in on a discussion that Columbia Film Professor Annette Insdorf held with the film’s director, Liza Johnson and the star of the movie, Kristen Wiig.

Realtalk, I’m not much of a film expert (although I also finally watched Dallas Buyer’s Club and Nebraska this weekend — A+ to both!); this event had me at “Kristen Wiig will be there.” Poor blessed Annette Insdorf tried her best to ask Ms. Johnson questions that wouldn’t bore the audience to sleep and stay on topic of the film, but 90% of the discussion and questions…

Accountability ….

Some words on accountability from a dear friend :

Each of us must be accountable
for wrongs committed–there
are no secret deeds.
Each is revealed in the Light.

Do not think that the other’s
wrong is greater, therefore yours
does not count; each are a
stain upon the soul.

Make restitution to those
whom you have harmed.
Ask them to forgive you.
If they do not, you have done your part.
No error is too small to ignore,
or too grave to forgive.

You need not be with those
who continue to harm you,
but leave with your heart
free of bitterness; pray for them
that they may choose the Light.

We are each accountable
for thought and deed.
Delay not, right your wrongs;
live in peace and harmony,
walking the path of Light and Love.

What Love Mean To Me

What Love mean to me!!

I want to know what i am!
I want to know what i want!
i want to know who i am!
i want to know where should i go!

These queries trouble me a lot!
With such queries i fight the battles lost!
The only thing I end up with
Is the troublesome onslaught!

Last night thinking of the sea
My thoughts kept flying back to thee
I tried to rationalize and see
Is it really the flame of love, burning within me!

For you I want to be all calm
For you I want to keep open my arms
For you I want to be soothing as balm!
For you I want to be the shelter from all the harm!

I want to be like the vast ocean
To attain all the tranquility in my bosom
And to ease away all your tension
I want you to be there totally under my discretion!

I want to be so free yet very powerful too
I want to be open and yet confined too
I want to be aloof yet the most concerned for you too
I want to be lethal yet life-line too

I want you to seek my love to relax
To find the feelings of comfort and solace
I want you to find peace in my embrace
That when others see, they find its radiance in your face!

Duur Garchay Hain Ghairon Say
Apnay Pyaron Say

Is Doori Mai Watan Ki Hifazat
Ka waada Hai Inn Paharoun Say
In Junglon Say
Bayabanon Say
Dasht o Sehraoun Say
In Fizaaoun Say

Ghar Say Doori Mai Bhi Aey Pak Watan
La Basaya Hai Hamain
Inn Paharon Nay
Paharoun Ki Goud Mai
Gaaon Mai !!
Iss Gaaon Kay Jis Mai Hum Bastay Hain
Iss Gaaon Ko Samungli Kehtay Hain

Yeh Paharoun Say
Kohsaaron Say Hai Dhakka Hua
Phoolon Say
Phalon / Poudoun Say Hai Lada Hua
Chaar Soo Hai Darakhtoun Say Saja Hua

Pyaar o Muhabat Say Yahan Log Rehtay Hain
Ghar Say Zyaada Issay Ghar
Samajhtey Hain

Hai Yeh Chota Sa Gaoun Per
Ismay Hai Ek Shahr Basa Hua
Shehron Ka Bharpoor Rang Is Mai Hai Racha Hua
………

Aur Last One is Esp for My Hero….

Is Samungli Say Mujhay Bhi Pyaar Tau Hai
Per Kya Karun Kay Dil Mai Bhara Ghubaar Bhai Hai
Samungli Kay Jahan Posted Hai Mera Hero
Jo Karachi Wapis Anay Ko Tayyar Nahi Hai !

The Would-Be Assassin and the Camera

L.M. Sacasas

It’s not uncommon to hear someone say that they were haunted by an image, often an old photograph. It is a figurative and evocative expression. To say that an image is haunting is to say that the image has lodged itself in the mind like a ghost might stubbornly take up residence in a house, or that it has somehow gotten a hold of the imagination and in the imagination lives on as a spectral after-image. When we speak of images of the deceased, of course, the language of haunting approaches its literal meaning. In these photographs, the dead enjoy an afterlife in the imagination.

Lewis Powell

I’ve lately been haunted myself by one such photograph. It is a well-known image of Lewis Powell, the man hung for his failed attempt to assassinate Secretary of State William Seward. On the same night that John Wilkes Booth murdered the president, Powell was to…
